Pelvic Floor Course
The pelvic floor is an area that most people don’t exert conscious control over. The Perineum and the Pelvic girdle comprise a key part of the driving force behind most human function. By bringing awareness, strength and suppleness to this are people can learn to heal urinary and fecal incontinence, pain (especially pelvic, hip, knee and back), and improve function. Course participants will learn to guide clients in a low tech, non-invasive, explorative approach that draws on yoga, qigong and feldenkrais.
This user-friendly course will help you be familiar with the anatomy, pathology, pain mechanisms, physiology, kinesiology and mind-body energetics of this base of both the anatomical spine and the chakra system. Bridging East and West, addressing both mind and body, this course is appropriate for rehab professionals like physical & occupational therapists, Yoga therapists, qigong therapists, therapeutic pilates teachers, fitness professionals, Midwives, Dulas and others fascinated by the potential for improving quality of life by enhancing pelvic floor function. In addition to providing a foundation of knowledge in this area and teaching specific exercises/explorations/practices, this course will map out a flexible way of “languaging” or framing the pelvic floor that can emphasize muscles, joints or energetic concepts including chakra and dantien.
Participants will:
Understand the anatomy, pathology, kinesiology, and physiology of muscles, bones and organs of the pelvic floor
Understand the related mind-body energetics and chakra system
Improve their awareness of the pelvic floor
Understand the relationship of bladder function and the pelvic floor
Understand the autonomic nervous systems influence on pelvic floor function
Understand the relationship of low back, hip and pelvic pain with the pelvic floor
Practice and teach techniques that improve pelvic floor function
Learn how you can bring this program to your facility or center.
