Mind-Body Back School: Tai Chi, Qigong, Pilates & Gentle Yoga

This workshop includes:

  • Qigong to learn to relax the back “on the fly”.
  • Tai Chi principles for effortless power.
  • Pilates-based work to improve awareness & strength of the “core” muscles.
  • Hatha yoga & pranayama to gently cultivate a more supple & vital spine.
  • Words of experience on how to prioritize development of strength, flexibility and awareness to set the stage for long-term spinal health.

Objectives

Participants will learn:

  1. Qigong for dantien (second chakra) energy accumulation.
  2. Tai chi body mechanics for low back protection
  3. Modified pilates exercise for core strength
  4. Sphynx, Child’s pose & Supine twist.
  5. Ujai breath.
  6. How to apply the above to an individual’s situation.
